Classic Lapland – Northern Lights, Winter 2015
Lapland – the land of the of the indigenous Sami People inhabiting the Arctic region. For seven days we will experience their uncommon lifestyle in the freezing Arctic Circle enviroment.
We will gaze upon one of the most spectacular natural phenomena on earth – the Northern Lights – Aurora Borealis. Join us on a unique Arctic Circle adventure.
Day 1 – Welcome to Rovaniemi, Lapland.
We will equip you with special arctic outfits customs for the freezing temperatures (thermal overalls, shoes, socks, gloves & under caps). All the gear is included!
After we are all set, we’ll head to Vaattunki. It is a wild forest area, where lumberjacks determined the unique atmosphere of the wild nature.
A warm dinner will wait for us in the hotel after which we hope to see already the Northern Lights, aka Aurora Borealis!
Day 2 – Husky dogs, Reindeer and Arctic Circle village.
In the morning we’ll visit the Husky farm where dozens of husky dogs greet us with their howling and yapping.
These friendly husky dogs are anxious to take us for a safari in the surrounding forests and wilderness.
After the safari we will enjoy some hot cider and lunch by a campfire and get familiar with these wonderful animals.
Continuing to a reindeer farm everyone will have a chance to ride the reindeer sleds and you will get “reindeer-driving license”.
The Reindeer Shepherd will tell us about the everyday life, reindeer and their habits & provides the ritual in a Kota (authentic Sami house)
afterwards we will continue to Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle – Napapiiri.
Day 3 – Snowmobile Safari & Ice fishing
An exciting day with another unforgettable experience on our journey. Today we will get to ride snowmobiles through the Arctic’s frozen landscape.
We will travel by pairs over frozen rivers and lakes, and through an endless forest.
We will learn ice fishing methods from the locals and have a light lunch (soup) on the ice.
By the end of the day we will head to back to Rovaniemi for dinner.
Day 4 – Cruise on-board the ice-breaker “Sampo” and the LumiLinna ice castle
This morning we will drive the port city of Kemi where we board the icebreaker “Sampo” and embark on an amazing cruise at the frozen Bothnia Bay.
During the cruise we will witness the unique capability of the ship to break through a meter think ice.
At some point we will stop the engines and anyone who wishes can go swimming in the icy waters, covered with a special dry suits.
After the cruise we will return to Kemi for lunch and continue to the Lumi Linnna ice castle – a frozen castle and hotel that is re-built every year according to a unique theme.
People actually sleep there, but since we love you – we will return to Rovaniemi for dinner and a warm night’s sleep.
Day 5 – Frozen falls and snow walking
After breakfast we will go on a hike. We will head down the snowy slopes to the magical frozen falls. The braves will try and climb all the way and touch the water that stopped purring.
In the evening we will chase the Northern Lights if weather allows.
Day 6 – Ranua Zoo
This morning we head south to Ranua Wildlife Park, with over 50 different species of wild animals and birds in their natural habitat.
You will take a 3 km walk through the forest along well-prepared paths. Many of the animals are most active in winter and snow provides a good
background for watching them. You will see the few tricks of the Polar bears and meet the speaking black raven, snowy owls, Arctic fox and many
other Arctic wildlife that will excite you and provide unique photography opportunities. After the walk in the fresh air you will enjoy a buffet style lunch in the cozy restaurant. A Fazer sweets store, a souvenir shop and a home wine store are located nearby.
Day 7 – Arktikum
After breakfast we will head to the Arktikum museum, and take an expedition to the top of the world.
It presents nature in the far north and the life of the Sami tribe. The Arctic Centre also describes how vast natural resources are being exploited and the possible risks entailed.
Just in case we weren’t lucky enough to see the Northern Lights – the wonderful Aurora show in the museum will excite our imagination
Our bus will take us to Rovaniemi airport where our Arctic Circle Adventure will come to its end.

What are the chances of actually seeing the Northern Lights?
The Northern lights, or Aurora Borealis, are subjected to various conditions. the latitude of Rovaniemi is amazing for the illusive northern lights, with almost every other night a wonderful show is overhead.
Our incredible experience in Northern Lights chase and photography really increases the chances of seeing an amazing display almost every night. Thousands of our travellers have seen it with us, and we hope you will too!
That being said, of course we are dealing with nature and weather, so we can’t guarantee the phenomena, but we’ll do all we can to provide and most chances is an unforgettable display.

All the prices include V.A.T. & any other taxes, duties, levies, road tolls or fees.
Accommodation – 2 Pax in standard twin/dbl rooms.
Snowmobiles are insured as required by Finnish law.
This insurance covers medical care for injuries of the driver and the passenger arising from accidents.
Liability for damage caused to the snowmobile up to the amount of EUR 890 per accident.
Not for Children under 16 years old.
We reserve the right to revise pricing due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control such as increase in fuel prices, labor costs, taxes, etc.
Safety – all our products include a detailed safety plan. Our guides have been trained in first aid, and they recognise the risks involved in our activities and take them seriously.
